World Enough, and Time sets the stage, 200 years in the future, for a hero’s journey – Joshua’s rescue operation to save his family, which has been kidnapped by horrific, mythic beasts. The landscape of this world is populated by dragons, minotaurs, and creatures from every mythological pantheon, who were genetically engineered by scientists of our own time. Now they dominate the earth, despising the scattered remaining human colonies. Joshua’s family, we find, has been taken to a castle of vampires and androids conducting depraved experiments designed by a strange new animal Queen, in order to create a New World Order. Joshua saves some of his people but his wife dies, though the Queen’s plot – seemingly – fails.
